Today’s construction professionals need access to the right information at the right time to enhance team collaboration, minimize mistakes, and increase project profitability. In this course, we learn how cloud technologies help team members work more efficiently.
This course is designed for students majoring in Architectural Engineering (AE), Construction Management (CM), or Civil Engineering (CVE) who will be active members of construction projects where they would benefit from the use of Connected BIM, a digital workflow for Building Information Modeling (BIM). The materials in this course have been designed for upper year curriculum.
This course will teach you how to run clash tests using Autodesk® Navisworks® with BIM 360® Glue® models, and how to use BIM 360® Field® to manage project information and keep track of project progress.
After completing this course, students will:
Contents and Overview
This course consists of 5 sections that include lectures and hands-on exercises introducing construction document management and digital workflows using BIM 360 and Navisworks. Each lesson includes comprehensive lecture presentations, project resources, and a final course assessment.
At the beginning of the course, we’ll introduce the software and project resources required. We’ll also show you how to set up a project and manage equipment mapping in BIM 360 Field. We’ll then introduce concepts behind “Connected BIM,” as well as an introduction to BIM 360 Glue and the BIM 360 Field iPad application.
Next, we’ll explore how to use BIM 360 Glue and Navisworks together as an integrated workflow between desktop and cloud solutions to perform clash detection. Clash detection has been a popular way of improving design quality by comparing multiple design models against each other to detect any collisions or clashes. You will learn when to use BIM 360 Glue and Navisworks together to perform higher levels of clash detection.
In the final lessons of the course, you’ll learn how to use BIM 360 Field on the construction job site for project execution. An example workflow will be used to demonstrate efficient issue tracking and inspection. We’ll also demonstrate data integration between BIM 360 Glue and Field.
At the end of the course, you’ll take a course assessment that demonstrates your expertise and shows you where you might need more practice.
